Interference Suppression in DMT Receivers Using Windowing
نویسندگان
چکیده
A new receiver structure for improving the performance of conventional Discrete Multitone (DMT) based Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) transceivers is described. In this method, the conventional demodulator consisting of a FFT followed by a scalar frequency-domain equalizer is augmented by an additional data-path utilizing windowing. Time-limited receiver windowing is done independently for each symbol over the orthogonality interval while the transmitter is unchanged. Windowing can be carried out efficiently in the time or frequency domain. A decision feedback equalizer is used to cancel the resulting inter-bin-interference. Computer simulation results are presented for ADSL with realistic interference conditions which show that this method is most effective against narrowband interference and other impairments which lead to diminished inter-bin orthogonality. The overall technique is also applicable to other multicarrier modems such as VDSL and wireless OFDM.

Combining raised cosine windowing and per tone equalization for RFI mitigation in DMT receivers
Discrete multitone (DMT) offers an elegant way to achieve high capacity, dividing the spectrum into small bands and processing these individually. The per tone equalizer (PTEQ) optimizes the capacity for each band individually, thus optimizing the whole. However, it provides little protection against narrow band radio frequency interference (RFI), being spread over all tones because of the high...

In Discrete Multitone (DMT) transceivers, a cyclic prefix of length y is inserted between transmitted symbols. If the channel impulse response is of length y + 1 or shorter, the intersymbol interference can be avoided. To reduce the inefficiency due to the use of a long cyclic prefix, the use of a time domain equalizer (TEQ) to shorten the effective channel impulse response has been the most po...

High speed Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) systems transmit signals that overlap in spectrum with the bands used for radio communications. AM broadcast stations and radio amateur transmitters result into electromagnetic interference impairing the DSL-receiver. For Discrete Multitone (DMT) systems, windowing, in combination with Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) cancellation has been proposed to ...

Over the years, many GPS RFI mitigation methods have been developed and their effectiveness has been tested and quantified. However, most of these methods were implemented and tested using conventional hardware receivers. With the rapid development of computer technologies, the signal processing computational load is becoming less of a concern, and thus it becomes feasible to develop and test n...

Conventional orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing receivers disregard the guard interval in channels with small dispersion even though its unconsumed portion can be exploited for improved demodulation by applying a Nyquist-shaped window in the receiver. The transmitter does not need to be modified, subcarrier orthogonality in the receiver is preserved, and the receiver discrete Fourier tr...
